Allergic diseases are a serious health problem for millions. Airborne allergens can trigger life-threatening asthmatic symptoms and allergies to foods, medications and insect bites cause sudden, tragic deaths. Asthma is a closely related disorder as many allergy sufferers experience asthma symptoms and many with asthma also have allergies.   Astarte Biologics now offers cells and plasma from individuals with various allergies and asthma. These can be used to advance our understanding of allergies and to develop new, more effective treatments.

The donors in the table below are listed as allergic if they primarily identify as such and are listed as asthma sufferers if that is their primary diagnosis.  These are overlapping categories and we recommend you look at the certificate of analysis for each lot to learn more about each donor.  

Cells and plasma are isolated from whole blood collected using citrate as an anticoagulant. Some lots may be collected using heparin as the anticoagulant and this is noted in the lot specific certificate of analysis.  PBMC are tested for responses to recall antigens.
