Introducing A Rapid Model of Asthma

Induce asthma in days, not weeks! OVA-induced asthma is a powerful mouse model of chronic allergic asthma and airway hyperresponsiveness. In the classic model, it takes at least 4 weeks to induce chronic inflammation in mice in order to generate high levels of serum IgG and IgE.

Astarte Biologics’ new Rapid Asthma Model allows you to bypass the immunization phase of the model by employing a cocktail of OVA-specific antibodies and antigen which induces the induction of disease after only 5 days! The major advantages are:

• Rapid screening of new therapeutics
• Induction of disease in knock out (KO) and transgenic models to study genes of interest.
• Dissection of the inflammation and immune phases of asthma

Normal Lung	Rapid Asthma

Compared to the normal lung, the asthma lung has massive inflammatory cell infiltrates, thickening and desquamation of the bronchiole epithelium, goblet cell hyperplasia, and mucus production in the bronchioles. Asthma was induced with a cocktail of OVA-specific antibodies and antigen administered for 4 days, i.n. Mice were sacrificed on day 5. H & E stained. Original magnification 200X.
